FAQ

Where did you come up with the name of your website?

"Sew Nizhoni" is part Navajo.  Nizhoni in Navajo means, "good, beautiful." Pronounce Ni-zho-nee. Sew is pronounced "so" and when you put both of them together, it's another way to say "So Beautiful/Good."

Do you sell your crafts and designs?

At this time, I only sell hair bows.  On other crafts and designs, I like to make things on a whim or when I see something I like, I create it.

Do you have an etsy account?

I do but it is currently inactive.  You can shop at on my website by clicking here.

What type of sewing machine do you use?

I use the SingerOne sewing machine.  It's seriously the easiest sewing machine you will use.  Last time I saw this sewing machine, it was $249.99 at JoAnn's and on Amazon, but sometimes you can get a better deal.  The great thing I love about SingerOne is the built-in stitches that it does.  I have a growing family so being able to try different stitches on blankets or burp cloths makes it really fun.  To find out more about my sewing machine, please click here.

When did you start sewing?

I started sewing in 7th grade.  My first project consisted of sewing a quilt for my niece at the time.  I am SO glad there are pre-cut squares that make things SO much easier!  I have made things off and on until I realized I wanted a tulle skirt.  At the time, the tulle skirt ranged from $90-$250 which I thought it was outrageous.  I decided to take things in my own hands and sewing a skirt.  I borrowed a sewing machine from a lady who, at the time, attended the same church ward.  It took a few minutes to get used to the sewing machine and I have yet to turn back from that point.  It's been all uphill since. ;)

What types of crafts do you like to do?

I definitely like to do different types of DIY crafts.  If I see something I want and it's way too expensive or the quality isn't up to par, I take it upon myself to create and add a Navajo flare into it.  Sometimes they turn out better or terrible than I thought.  I make necklaces, earrings, skirts, themed wood letters, baby blankets, burp cloths, beaded socks, bows, and flower headbands.

If I make a special request, will you help me?

Pretty sure with enough begging, I will make you something.  I do ask for patience and lots of love.  The more projects I have, the better I get.  Please email me here.
